Mary Sayer , 60

Mary Budge Sayer, 60, of Leslie, Idaho, formerly of Mountain Home, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 in Arco, Idaho, after a 9-month battle with thyroid cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral services were held at the LDS Stake Center in Moore, Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 14. Internment was in the Mt. McCaleb Cemetery.

She was born March 16, 1945, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Taft Passey and Jean Price Budge. She was raised in Paris, Idaho, in the Bear Lake Valley, where she graduated from Fielding High School.

She went on to nursing school at Ricks College, where she earned her RN nursing degree. While in Rexburg attending Ricks College she met Byron Sayer, and they were married in the LDS Temple in Logan, Utah, on Dec. 28, 1966.

Mary worked full time at Lost Rivers Hospital after moving to the Lost River Valley from Mountain Home, ID in 1976 until she was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2005.

She also worked at the Mountain Home Hospital prior to moving from there. She was a nurse for over 37 years.

In her spare time, she worked with her husband delivering mail, farming, and raising five children.

Mary served in several callings in the LDS Church, which she loved, from nursery leader to Relief Society President.

"Mary loved her husband, children and 15 grandchildren, who knew her as Mom, Grammy, Grammer, and Ga-ma," her family said.

She is survived by: her husband, her five children, Blaine (Robin) Sayer of Idaho Falls, Marianne (Paul) Lanier of Leslie, Aaron (Kirsty) Sayer of Bowling Green, Ohio, Jeremy (Heather) Sayer of Mountain Home, and Joshua (Christina) Sayer of Moore, Idaho; three brothers,Richard and his wife, Ann, Neil and his wife, Jan, Mark and his wife, LuAnn; three sisters, Ione and her husband, Kent, Margaret and her husband, Richard, and Ann and her husband, Charles, and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn Budge, and her parents.
