Archie Hoffman, 93

Archie E. Hoffman, 93, of Mountain Home, died Sunday, March 20, 2005.

Memorial services will be held at 11 am. Friday, March 25, at Summers Funeral Homes McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home, with inurnment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A reception to follow at the funeral home.

"She was a wonderful person and an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed by her family, friends., and loved ones," her family said.

She was born May 4, 1911, in Lamar, Colo., to Wade and Mary Fowler Havens. As a small child her family moved to Browning, Mo. She received her education there. Her father and one sister then moved to Lamar, Colo., where Archie met Clarence Ronald (C.R.) Hoffman. Archie and C.R. fell in love and were married on Dec. 24, 1929. To that union were born four children, Ronald (Bud) Hoffman, Jr., James Wade Hoffman, Roger Dix Hoffman, and Sandra Sue Hoffman.

C.R. and Archie moved to Idaho Falls in 1935 where they raised their family.

Archie was active in various activities. She worked in Cub Scouts, Brownies, DeMolay, her church, and her political party. After their children were married and in their own homes, C.R. and Archie moved to Mountain Home, where they retired.

Archie became involved in the Elkettes, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizen's Center, of which she was president for two years. She was a member of the Board of Directors for several terms.

She also was a member of the First Congregational Church, which she enjoyed for many years.

"Archie enjoyed her life in Mountain Home and the lovely friends that she and C.R. made there," her family said, adding that, "Archie was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even great-great-grandmother.

Archie's husband, C.R., died after 67 years of marriage. Archie was also preceded in death by two sisters, one son, and one granddaughter.

Archie is survived by: her son, James Wade Hoffman and his wife, Mary Ann, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Roger Dix Hoffman and his wife, Hazel, of Idaho Falls; her daughter, Sandra Sue Hoffman of Kuna; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great- great-grandchildren.
