Harvey A. Sherman, 68, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center of complications from a stroke and diabetes.

At his request, no services are planned. His body will be cremated and his ashes "scattered to winds somewhere in Idaho," his family said.

He was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Walter Sherman and Ellen Cook. He graduated from Portage High School in Kalamazoo, and after graduation joined the U.S. Army. After his military tour he lived in several places and finally settled in Mountain Home in 1965, where he had various jobs with local merchants.

He also was a patrolman for several years with the Mountain Home Police Department.

His family noted that he also was a "gifted musician who taught guitar to local students and played in his country and western band at several of the local clubs."

He is survived by: three daughters, two sons, and a brother living in Oklahoma and Mountain Home.
