Paul Sheldon Kriley, 81, died Dec. 30, 2004, at home in Grand View.

The body will be cremated and a memorial service held at 11 a.m., Jan. 10, at Knight Community Church in Grand View.

He was born on Kriley Gulch, 15 miles north of Salmon, Idaho, on April 9, 1923, the youngest son of Carl Jacob and Arnold Lynn Buster Kriley.

He attended Fourth of July Creek grade school and graduated from Salmon High School in 1941.

The great outdoors was always his favorite place, his family noted.

He took part in WW II, going in to France on Utah Beach and on to Berlin. He came home in December 1945.

In June 1946 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Anne Bloomsburg. They returned to the Salmon area for a number of years, with him doing building and plumbing work in Salmon, and then ranching -- cattle and dude -- on Panther Creek.

Later they ranched near Bellevue, Idaho, and owned a repair and machine shop. In 1979 they moved to Imnaha, Ore., where he had the machine shop for 19 years. They moved it to Grand View in 1998 to be nearer to his son, Pat, in Boise.

Around both Imnaha and Grand View in the fall and winter, his favorite activity was trapping. It was a joint work by him and Barb and, though hard work, was greatly enjoyed, his family said.

He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Barbara; son Patrick Walter (Marcia) Kriley of Boise; adopted son Richard Robert Kriley of Kissimee, Fla.; two grandaughters and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his sister and two brothers.
