Rosie Blossom, 83

Rosie Adams Blossom, 83, of Owyhee, Nev., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Owyhee Community Hospital Facility.

Services were held Saturday, June 26, at the Human Development Center in Owyhee. Burial followed at the New Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Rosie was born on April 3, 1921, in Owyhee, Nev., the daughter of John Adams and Maude Miller.

She married Wayne Blossom on Jan. 26, 1942.

Rosie was employed by the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes for 21 years as a Home Health Aide. During her employment, she provided tender loving care to many community members of the Duck Valley Reservation, her family noted, adding, "Rosie was a very hard-working woman all her life. She spoke of harvesting hay, and harnessing teams in her younger years."

Her family said that she loved the outdoors, walking, traveling, yard sales, rodeos, pow-wows, gardening, planting flowers, caring for her pets and cooking. She enjoyed picking chokecherries in the hills, jarring fruits, and visiting with friends at home and in town. Rosie loved watching the Price is Right, the Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She made many various crafts including quilts, braided rugs, cradle boards and shades, crocheting, knitting, embroidery sewing, making moccasins, beading, grass dance outfits and other crafts. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosie is survived by: her twelve children, Joe Blossom, Hilda Kingston, Melvin Blossom, Wilt Blossom, Rudy Blossom, Dolly Blossom-Paiva, Verona Blossom, Wally Blossom, Tina Reynolds, Tex Blossom, Maynard Blossom, Hazel Zglinski, and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and sons Morgan and Johnny, her parents, John and Maude Adams, brothers, Lincoln, Lee and Joseph Adams, sisters Leona Adams and Diana Prior, and a nephew and a cousin.
