Geneva Hampton, 87

Geneva O. Hampton, 87, of Glenns Ferry, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at a Boise hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Glenns Ferry. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Geneva was born July 22, 1915, in Texarkana, Ark., the daughter of Beulah Dieffenbacher and Charles Frances.

Geneva was a Cub Scout Leader, a Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge #61 of Mountain Home, President of J.O.C. Club, President of Purple Sage Cowbells, Treasurer of Idaho State Cowbells, President of Three Island Riding Club, a 4th Leader of Wrangler Horse Group, and treasurer/secretary of Hammett Irrigation.

Geneva and Mrs. Brubaker are credited with the rural mail service to Indian Cove and surrounding area.

For 18 years she ran Nanna's Child Care, loving and caring for some 60 babies until school age.

She loved reading, fishing, traveling and horseback riding. Geneva is survived by: her husband, Cecil Hampton; children Beulah Marie Moffett, Almira Hampton and Frank L. Hampton of Glenns Ferry, Carolyn G. Bruce of Vidalia, La., and Charles Paul Gideon of Pueblo, Colo., 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Annette Trout.
