Riley McCarroll, 77

Riley C. McCarroll, 77, of Mountain Home, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at a Boise hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 29, at Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery.

Riley was born July 17, 1925, in Plainville, Kan., the son of Benjamin F. and Thelma R. (Brown) McCarroll.

He was drafted into the Army and served two years and two months in Utah.

On Sept. 15, 1950, he married Myrtle (Winnie) Vroman in Burley.

Riley worked at the Veterans Hospital in Roseburg, Ore. They moved to Mountain Home in 1974 where Riley worked as a fireman for Mountain Home Air Force Base. He retired in 1978.

Riley enjoyed fishing, hunting and being in the outdoors. Riley is survived by: his wife, Winnie McCarroll of Mountain Home; sons Mitch McCarroll of Albuquerque, N.M., Tom A. McCarroll of Burley, and Michael McCarroll of Mountain Home; daughters Winifred Jane Stiner and Kathleen Heuer, both of Mountain Home; brother Loren McCarroll of Midland, Texas, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Riley, and two brothers.
