Mountain Home won 11 of 15 matches with Skyview last Monday night on its way to a 57-18 conference dual match win at Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Winning by forfeits for the Tigers were Jacob Lucas at 98 pounds, Josh Deal at 195 and Jose Ortiz at 185.

Tiger wrestling coach Lynn Knudson was happy with the winning effort.

"It's always nice to get them like that. We were coming off kind of a break because we had that cancellation with Skyview on Thursday, so we gave the team off Friday, and it's always a little scary when you do that, but things turned out well. We had a lot of kids that came through that maybe we didn't expect to win, but at least stay in the matches, and they came out with some big wins, so it's nice to see how we wrestled tonight."

The Tigers went to the Parma Invitational Wrestling Tournament over the weekend and finished in third place in the team standings.

Weiser won the tourney with 226 points. Fruitland was second with 189.5, Mountain Home was third with 178.5, Skyview was fourth with 150, and LaGrande, Ore., fifth with 146. There were 19 teams competing at the tourney.

Mountain Home had 11 wrestlers that placed in the top six.

Winning championships were Tanner Sessions at 145 pounds and Solomon Chung-Hee at 285.

Josh Deal finished second at 195 pounds.

Fourth-place efforts for the Tigers went to Jacob Lucas at 98 pounds, Jordan Pendleton at 132 and Brett Stempfley at 145. Aerial Groene placed fifth at 106 pounds, and sixth-place efforts went to Seth Dolan at 106 pounds, Bobby Dominguez at 126, Tyler Heath at 138 and Blake Spagnolo at 170.

"We didn't wrestle real well, but we had some people that were still down and out with the flu, which seems to be coming and going," said Coach Knudson regarding the team's effort at the Parma Tourney. "We know we have some things to do, some things to fix."

The Tigers' next action will be this Friday and Saturday during a tournament at Minco High School.

"It looks like it's going to be real tough," said Coach Knudson of the Minico tourney. "We're looking forward to seeing how that all goes."

Mountain Home's Jan. 17 match at Bishop Kelly was rescheduled for Jan. 29 at Bishop Kelly.
