West Elementary receives 2 grants to improve education

Faith Goddell reaches for a book as she conducts research in the West Elementary School library. A $5,000 grant from the Idaho Commission for Libraries will allow the school to purchase additional books to increase the library's collection.

Educators at West Elementary School will gain new tools to help them teach their children after the school received a pair of grants earlier this month.

Two state-level organizations presented the school with $7,500 in combined grant money as the grade school prepares to meet new guidelines outlined in the Idaho State Department of Education's common core curriculum.
