The Mountain Home Tigers had a good week of boys soccer, beating Kuna and battling to a tie with Middleton.

Tigers 1, Kuna 0

The Mountain Home Tigers blanked Kuna 1-0 Monday in a conference battle at Kuna. Brandon Zacarias scored Mountain Home's lone goal off an assist by Fernando Martinez. Jack Richelieu had 16 saves as goal keeper.

"We played well," said Tiger boys soccer coach Jay Lockett. "We showed a lot of heart and grit. Jack and Fernando stepped up with the defense."

The Mountain Home team is setting itself up to make a run for district, the coach added.

Tigers 2, Vikings 2

The Tigers saw a 2-0 lead evaporate, but hung on for a 2-2 tie at Middleton last Wednesday. Victor Sanchez scored both goals for Mountain Home, off assists by Fernando Martinez and Abraham Salas. Jack Richelieu had 16 saves, Jorge Salinas, five, at goalkeeper.

"We were up 2-0, and then got out of our game, but played with a lot of heart and never stopped hustling," said Coach Lockett.

The Tigers took a 5-5-3 record into Monday's home game against Emmett. They are on the road today, Oct. 3, at Columbia. The District III 4A Tournament starts Monday.
