Lady Tigers drop matches against Emmett, Caldwell

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers lost conference volleyball matches to Emmett and Caldwell last week.

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers let one get away from them Tuesday night, losing a conference volleyball match at home to Emmett in five games.

Mountain Home shot out to an early lead in the first game and led most of the way until an 8-0 run by Emmett put the Lady Huskies up, 21-18. Down 22-19, a 5-0 run by the Lady Tigers put them in the lead 23-22. Mountain Home fell behind, 24-23 and 25-24, but scored the final three points to win the first game 27-25.

The second game saw the score go back and forth with 12 ties, the last at 18-18. From there, Emmett outscored the Lady Tigers 7-4 for a 25-22 win.

The third game saw Mountain Home start slow, trailing 5-0, but they tied the game at 7-7 and took off for a 25-14 win.

Game four went back and forth, with 15 ties, the last one at 24-24, with Emmett winning the last two points for a 26-24 win and forcing a fifth and deciding game.

The Lady Tigers struggled in the fifth game, which only goes to 15, and trailed 11-0 before they finally scored. They had a small 4-0 run before a side out ended the game 15-7, Emmett, to give the Lady Huskies the match, three games to two.

"Honestly, I couldn't have asked more from the girls out of the first four games, it was fantastic volleyball by both teams. The fifth game, it was regrettable -- I'd like to take that one back," said Mountain Home Lady Tiger volleyball coach Steve Mau.

Ksyenya Peterson was 21/14 serving, with an ace and 39 assists and 27 digs. Emma Wenger was 19/19 serving, with six aces, seven kills and two blocks. Tessa Pachner was 17/19 serving with six aces, 10 kills and six blocks. Janay Yulis was 17/17 serving with two aces. Dakota Dean was 16/17 serving with three aces, six kills and 21 digs. Selena Foster was 9/9 serving with an ace and 14 kills and Jacci Cristobal had 14 kills.

Caldwell 25, 25, 25

Lady Tigers 15, 16, 22

The Lady Tigers traveled over to Caldwell to face the Lady Cougars Thursday night in conference volleyball and lost in three straight games, 25-15, 25-16, and 25-22.

Ksyenya Peterson had 19 assists for Mountain Home. Meanwhile, Tessa Pachner had eight kills and four blocks, Janay Yulis served up four aces, and Selena Foster had nine kills.

"Caldwell played really good ball and we were just not prepared," said Coach Mau of the Caldwell match. "Thankfully, this is another match we can use to learn from, leading up to the matches that really count towards our shot at a district title."

Mountain Home travels to Nampa Thursday night for a conference match, and heads to Twin Falls Saturday for a tournament.
