Stephanie DeSoto Wall, 96, of Mountain Home, entered into rest on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at a local care center. A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug.29, beginning at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1190 N. 6th East St., Mountain Home. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Stephanie was born June 13, 1915, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Stephanie and her family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1921. There she met and fell in love with her one and only "sweetheart," Willard W. Wall, who was in the Army and stationed in Hawaii.

It was during the time they were dating when she told us about how she stood on the roof of her home and watched the attack on Pearl Harbor. She never forgot that day and could recall the adventure with ease. Stephanie and Willard were united in marriage on Jan. 7, 1943, in Hilo, Hawaii. After the war, they moved to Hayward, Calif., where they lived and began a family. After their son entered the Air Force, they moved to Austin, Texas, where she remained until her husbandıs passing. After his passing, she moved to Mountain Home to be near her son. While in Mountain Home, Stephanie was active with her church and the Mountain Home Senior Center.

Stephanie loved to sew, knit crochet and do handicrafts. But everyone could not wait for a celebration of birthdays or holidays when she made her signature Banana Pudding, Yum. We will all miss that.

Stephanie was a beloved sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Stephanie was one of a family of seven children and is survived by two brothers, Albert and Joseph DeSoto, and her sister, Virginia Cook, her son, Willard R. Wall, and his wife, Carol, of Mountain Home, her grandchildren, Cheryl Derrick of Boise, Chad Wall of Fremont, Calif., Bruce Wall and his wife, Sarah, serving their faith in Lima, Peru, Christine White of Orlando, Fla., and Michael White and his wife, Lori, of Renton, Wash., and her great-grandchildren, Talon Derrick, Alyssa Wall, Stephanie Wall, Benjamin Wall and Elijah Wall.

We are all going to miss her dearly.
