Robert Maison

Robert Joseph Maison, 81, or BJ, the name by which most people knew him, passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2011, in his beloved town of Mountain Home.

Born in San Francisco, Calif., during the depression, he was the only child of Donald Howard Maison and Evelyn Mary Davis. The happiest time of his youth was spent while living on a ranch, where his mother was the cook, in Fairfield, Calif., graduating from Armijo Union High School in 1949.

In 1952, he married LeeAda Henslee, settling in Fontana, Calif. They had three children together: Patricia Maison-Godfrey, Robert Maison and Pamila Kay Habecker. The family enjoyed countless camping trips to the beach and Baja, Mexico where BJ and LeeAda adventured as avid scuba divers.

BJ made his living as a self-employed welder and union millwright, traveling throughout the Western states.

He finally made a life in Mountain Home in 1980, where he used his carpentry talents to build a home.

BJ loved to hunt, dreaming of his next elk expedition. He treasured his dogs, his guns and his friends and was a devoted letter writer, his letters often full of prose.

BJ was known by his friends to be honest and kind, especially to animals and people less fortunate. He was generous, sharing his culinary creations, garden bounty, and many skills with his neighbors and friends.

He is survived by his three children and six grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
