Peggy Pearce

Peggy Louise Gardner Pearce was born May 29, 1927, to Louise Bates Ziegler and Howard Eugene Gardner in Pocatello, Idaho. She died June 18, 2011, at the age of 84, as a result to complications of surgery in a local hospital.

She attended Pocatello schools, graduating from Pocatello High School and earning a bachelor's degree in education from Idaho State University.

She taught school in the old Lincoln school in Pocatello and later at West Elementary in Mountain Home for a total of about 30 years. She did substitute teaching after she retired and was tutoring her great-granddaughter at the time of her death.

She married Edwin Wallace Pearce on Nov. 2, 1946, in Pocatello. They had two children, Tara Lee (Swenk) and Stephen Michael Pearce. They were later divorced.

Peggy was very active in the Nampa Senior Center and was on its board of directors. She attended exercise classes and played Pinochle several times a week.

She sold purses and jewelry on the side. She loved people and was always the life of the party.

She is survived by two sisters, Shirley Hartley and Dorothy Chatteron, and a sister-in-law, Carrie Dee Gardner of Pocatello. She is also survived by her two children, Tara Lee and Stephen, and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Louise Gardner, and two brothers, Donald Gardner and Neil Gardner.

Funeral services will be held at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel at 83 N. Midland Boulevard, Nampa, Idaho, on Wednesday, June 22, at 2 p.m.

Viewing will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 21, from 6-8 p.m., and on June 22 from noon to 2 p.m., two hours before the funeral.
