WECRD president explains why application pulled

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Dear editor:

As WECRD Board members we are concerned that it has been said the integrity of the WECRD and the YMCA process is at stake due to the information in the 2011 Federal Appropriations application.

Although we all agree there was no intent to deceive with this application process, the inaccuracies needed correcting.

Today (Tuesday, March 23), during a special meeting, we unanimously voted that due to Senate time restraints and deadlines we would withdraw the 2011 Federal Appropriation application.

Mollie, Jana and I want to do everything we can to cooperate and help with the YMCA/CLDC process.

The community's needs have always been at the heart of all our decisions. We look forward to join with the rest of Western Elmore County citizens at a "Town Hall Meeting " on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at the high school gym. The results of the YMCA survey will to be shared and explained to us all.

The members of the WECRD will continue to support the YMCA/CLDC process and welcome their conclusions.

Marsha Sellers, WECRD president
