Darlene Johnson

Darlene J. (Anderson) Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 25, 2009, at the age of 69.

She was born Nov. 6, 1939, in Lead, S.D., to Alvin and Ellen Anderson. She lived many places during her childhood. Her teenage years were spent in Boise, Idaho. She graduated from Boise High School in 1957.

In 1958, she married Robert P. Johnson Jr. In the early years of their marriage Bob was in the Marines and during this time Darlene was a strong support.

Darlene and Bob had four children: Jeanette, Jo-ann, Peachy and BJ. Us kids were the most important thing in her life and we knew we were loved. Darlene and the family lived on a little farm on Maple Grove and Overland.

Life on the Johnson Farm was filled with lots of love and good times. Once the kids were grown Bob and Dar moved to another farm in Hammett, Idaho. They lived there for over 20 years and raised llamas, cows, chickens, emus and much more.

While living in Hammett, Darlene joined the "Red Hats Society,""The Appliqué Society," and a quilting group. She loved being involved in these groups and made many friends.

Darlene was an expert seamstress, sewing as a hobby and also as a means of income for many years. There was nothing she couldn't sew. In the last several years our Mom made some of the most beautiful and exquisite quilts you have ever seen; some were displayed in various locations.

She also had many other hobbies. She and Dad loved to go fishing, she was proud of her flower garden, she enjoyed painting and crocheting, she loved to cook and was able to make anything taste good (except maybe liver). She loved to put jigsaw puzzles together and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, too. She also really enjoyed the monthly reunion lunches with her classmates from high school.

Darlene was loved by all. She had the most warm and caring heart and would do anything for anyone. Our Mom was very special and enriched our lives in so many ways. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Don¹t worry Mom, we¹ll take care of Dad.

Darlene is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Robert P. Johnson Jr., her four children: Jeanette (Mike) Doolittle, Jo-ann (Mark) Fuller, Peachy Johnson and Robert P. (Trudy) Johnson III (BJ), and 11 grandchildren, Brad, Holly, Coley, Trevor, Kolby, Brady, Derek (deceased), Carli, Cassadi, Amanda and Cristina, and two great-grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Beverly Allen, and her brother, Junior Anderson.

There will be a gathering for family and friends on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, from 1-3 p.m. at the Three Island Seniors Center, 492 E. Cleveland Ave., Glenns Ferry, ID 83623.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Three Island Seniors Center, P.O. Box 263, Glenns Ferry, ID 83623.
