Mildred Evelyn Long, 81, of Mountain Home passed away March 2, 2009, at a local hospital, with her four children, a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters by her sides. A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

She was born Jan. 19, 1928, in Ozark, Ala. Later, she met Clyde Earl Long, also of Alabama and they were married in 1946. He was in the Air Force, so they lived in many places. After he retired, they moved to Mountain Home where she lived for 45 years.

Before becoming disabled, she was a volunteer at various nursing homes, Youth Center, Red Cross, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Eastern Star, Rebekahıs, Eureka Rock & Gem Club, and DAV Auxiliary.

Her interests included: crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening, sewing, and jigsaw and word puzzles. She was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Mildred is survived by: daughter Judy Martin of Boise; son Clyde Long of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Martha Geeson of Mtn. Home; and daughter Margaret Reidburn of Mtn. Home; sister Betty Douglas of Headland, Alabama; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; mother Thelma Alice Howse; and father Jesse James Sketo.
