Virginia Black Miller, 77, of Bruneau, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, with her family by her side.

A rosary was held Tuesday, Jan. 6. Funeral mass will be held today, Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Bruneau Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Virginia was born in Mountain Home on May 8, 1931, the only daughter of Albert and Bonnie Black of Bruneau.

As a child Virginia loved to write.

She attended school in Bruneau and went to college at the College of Idaho. Her brother, Joe, introduced her to his roommate, Clarence and the two hit it off. They were married in Bruneau on Sept. 16, 1950.

After Clarence's military service, he and Virginia began ranching in Little Valley and raising their family.

In addition, to being a homemaker, Virginia drove school and activities buses.

When Clarence went to work at the Winecup Ranch in Montello, Nev., Virginia worked as the ranch cook. "The cowboys had full bellies thanks to Virginia scrumptious meals," her family noted. "She was very social and loved playing bridge, attending Tupperware parties and shopping for bargains.

"Virginia was world famous for her cinnamon rolls and was always willing to make them to help her grandkids raise money for 4-H clubs and FFA auctions. She loved her family and her fondest memories included 'Grandma's Camp for Kids'. "

She is survived by: her husband, Clarence; her children, Mike Miller of Bruneau, Lori and her husband, Jim Rountree, of Sparks, Nev., Paul and his wife, Jessie Miller, of Boise, and Lisa Miller of Mountain Home; brothers Joe and his wife, Margaret Black, of Hammett, and Robert and his wife, Linda Black, of Nampa; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Bonnie Black, and her brothers, Doug and Asa Black.
