Victor "Chino" Manuel Sosa Gomez, 36, of Mountain Home, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at a Boise hospital.

A viewing will begin at 4 p.m. and a rosary at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial will be held at Aquiles Serdan in Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico, later this week.

Chino was born June 7, 1972, in Los Reys, Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico, the son of Presentation Sosa Avila and Maria Isabel Gomez Esquivel. Chino grew up in Zamora and attended school until the sixth grade. He lived with family and joined the Mexican military in 1990, completing his service in 1995. He chose to start a life in America and traveled to California, Washington and eventually Idaho, making his home in Mountain Home.

"He was a man of many traits, very respectful, intelligent and strong," his family said. "There wasn't much he couldn't do and didn't do with a smile on his face. He was a great worker and an excellent cook. He worked as a cook and also a baker in different areas. He loved all outdoor activities and most indoor hobbies.

"He had a wonderful heart and touched the lives of anyone he encountered. He was a guardian angel to his soulmate," his family said. "Chino could normally be found having a 'cold one' with his best friend Miguel and 'bro' Carlitos, or cooking a meal for all his friends or hanging out at home with the 'family.' He will always be in our hearts."

Chino is survived by: his parents, Presentation Sosa and Maria Isabela Gomez; three children Andrea, Victor Manuel and Lupita, all of Mexico; His "soulmate, companion and loved one," JoAnn Tellez; her three children that he loved as his own, Adam, Ana and Alex, all of Mountain Home; two brothers, six sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help the family with the funeral expenses can be sent to Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, 500 N. 18th East St., Mountain Home, ID 83647.
