Esmerejildo Vasquez Castillo, Jr,, 63, of Mountain Home, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at a local hospital.

A viewing and rosary were held on Monday, March 10, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, March 11, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Esmerejildo was born on Nov. 21, 1944, in San Juan, Texas, the son of Esmerejildo, Sr. and Ofelia Vasquez Castillo.

Esmerejildo was a migrant farm worker as a child. He worked mostly in West Texas picking cotton. In 1962, he and his family moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, and resided there for a few years. The family then moved to Hammett, on Indian Hill, where they continued to work as farm workers.

In 1968 Esmerejildo married Juanita Delos Angeles in San Juan, Texas. In 1976 Esmerejildo and Juanita moved to Mountain Home.

The couple had five children and 12 grandchildren.

Esmerejildo dedicated his life to his family and his work as a farm worker, his family said. When he had time he took his family fishing and trips to San Juan, Texas. He liked to hunt, fish and spend Sundays with his children and grandchildren.

Esmerejildo is survived by: his wife, Juanita, of Mountain Home; his son, Regino Castillo of Mountain Home; his daughter, Irene Castillo of Mountain Home; his son, Esemerejildo Castillo III of Mountain Home; his son, John Castillo of Boise; his daughter, Amanda Alonso of Boise; his brother, Juan Castillo of Illinois; his sister, Rita Sanchez of Washington, and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, one brother and one sister.
