Catherine Huff-Pollard, 97

Catherine Marie Huff-Pollard, 97, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in a local Mountain Home health care center.

Graveside Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Catherine was born May 29, 1908, in Marshall, Mo., to William Huff and Stella Pearson. As the only child she was raised by her grandmother and friends. She received her high school diploma in 1936, from Lincoln High School in Marshall.

On Nov. 24, 1927, she married Rufus B. Pollard, Sr., and to that union two boys were born.

She taught her boys at an early age to be compassionate and caring, her family said, adding, "she loved the Lord and taught her boys how to pray and trust in Him."

For over 50 years she had been a member of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church of Kansas City, Mo.

She worked for Dierks Sons Lumber Company in Missouri for 30-plus years until they sold the business. She lost her husband after 48 years of marriage and devoted herself to looking after her boys. She lost her oldest son in 2000, at which time she moved to Mountain Home to look after her other boy.

She is survived by: her son, Rufus Pollard, Jr., of Mountain Home, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Pollard, Sr., and one son.
