Robert J. Knoblock, 92, of Mountain Home, died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at a care center in Mountain Home.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the First Congregational Church in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Robert was born in South Bend, Ind., on Dec. 18, 1912, to Robert O. and Frieda Knoblock. The family moved to Salmon, Idaho, where he was raised. He later moved to southern California where he met and married Veva Ogle in 1942.

Robert entered the U.S. Army and was assigned to Eisenhower's Special Unit as a lieutenant. He received a Purple Heart for injuries suffered during the Battle of the Bulge. After being honorably discharged he pursued ranching in Clovis, Calif., Parma, Idaho, and also worked for the Bureau of Land Management.

After retirement, he and Veva moved to Boise and then Mountain Home, where they were active in volunteer work.

Robert is survived by: his sons, Kenneth (Julie) of Coeur d'Alene, and Michael of Mountain Home; daughter Nancy (Jerry) Mason of Mountain Home; sister Virginia Rimple of Port Angeles, Wash.; brother-in-law James (Maxine) Ogle of Downey, Calif.; five grandchildren, and several great-grand- children, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Congregational Church, the Idaho Youth Ranch, or a charity of choice.
