Melvin "Bud" Rossow, 78, of Mountain Home died July 30, 2005.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Homes.

He was born April 9, 1927, to Edward and Blanch (Roberts) Rossow in Campbell, Minn.

He was schooled in Campbell and entered the military service in 1943.

Shortly after his military service he married his first wife, Maxcene Hersey. She passed away in 1988 and he later married Cleo Rood in 1989.

Bud had a long, colorful life, from the US Navy to Civil Defense Patrol, sheriff's deputy, and radiator man in the automotive service industry. He also worked as an EMT and a musician, "but his most important and happiest role was grandpa, husband, brother and uncle," his family said. "You could usually find Bud at the DI or an American Legion function as Bud was a 62 year member of the American Legion and past member of the BOPE Lodge of Mountain Home.

"In his better days," his family added, "Bud was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending many wonderful hours with family and friends, but none more special than teaching his grandsons to hunt and fish, watching them at their wrestling matches and teasing all the little kids, it brought him great joy.

"Bud generally had a joke for everyone and a nickname for all his family members."

He is survived by: his wife, Cleo; sisters, Maxine and Darlene; several stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother and one sister.
