Bill Hardiman, 75

William "Bill" Hardiman, 75, formerly of Mountain Home, died June 7, 2005, at his home in Meridian, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with asthma and COPD.

Visitation was held Cloverdale Funeral Home June 9. Memorial services were held June 10 at the Mountain Home Elks Lodge with graveside services following at Meridian Cemetery

Bill was born in Grants Pass, Ore., on Feb. 12, 1930, to Laura King Hardiman and Herbert B Hardiman. He attended schools at Albany, Ore., Kuna and Meridian.

He joined the US Navy April 27, 1948, where he obtained his GED. He was honorably discharged April 26, 1953. He farmed, worked construction and attended Boise Junior College before entering the US Air Force Jan. 30, 1954.

Bill married Donna Farrington Aug.19, 1956, and their daughter, Cecyle, joined them April 7, 1964.

While in the Air Force Bill was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, Dyess AFB, Abilene ,Texas, Mountain Home AFB, Athens, Greece, Beale AFB, California and Thailand before retiring Feb. 18, 1970.

Bill retired in Mountain Home, where he and Donna had lived prior to his retiring, and spent the next 34 years here. "They both treasured all the friendships they made there as well as the community," his family said.

After Bill's retirement in 1970 he worked at numerous construction companies including Concrete Placing, G&S Construction and Robert Brown Construction.

He was a 35-year member of the Mountain Home Elks Lodge where he was honored as Elk of the Year for 1978-79. He also was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 26, in Mountain Home, and a charter member of the Mountain Home DAV.

Bill loved to garden, go deep-sea fishing and volunteer at the Elks Lodge, his family noted.

He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Donna; his daughter and her husband, Cecyle and Kirk Brock; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his mother-in-law, Opal Farrington; his three sisters, Dolly Morrison, Madaine Rudd, and Virginia Bond, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, and all three of his brothers, Bud, Irvin and Bob.
