Burton L. Moore, Sr., 79, of Boise, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, with his wife and children by his side, after a year-long fight with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Feb. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A reception followed the services at the church. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home following the reception. Arrangements were under the direction Summers Funeral Homes, Boise.

Burton was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Roswell, Idaho, to Albert and Mary Moore. He was the youngest member of the family.

Burt played several sports in high school and graduated from Roswell High School.

He served in the US Navy during WWII.

In 1946, while working in Mountain Home, he met the love of his life, Lola, and they were married June 2, 1946, in Mountain Home. They lived in Nampa and later moved to Boise where they raised their family.

He worked as an accountant for Randolph Robertson, Boise Water, and retired from Intermountain Gas.

He enjoyed gardening, oil painting, vacationing to Seaside, Ore., and Jackpot, Nev. He was an avid bowler and was on some of the first men's scratch leagues in Boise where and he and Lola enjoyed their mixed leagues. He and Lola were loyal BSU Bronco fans and with many years of season tickets for football and basketball.

He is survived by: his wife, Lola; daughter Geri Waer; son Burt Jr. (Pilar); and four grandchildren, all of Boise.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Idaho Special Olympics or a charity of choice.
