Owen Clell Riley, 72, of Mountain Home, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at a Boise hospital after losing a long battle with Leukemia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel, with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Owen was born April 1, 1931, in Cedaredge, Colo., to T. J. and Ermine Riley. He was raised in Colorado and moved to Idaho in the early 1950s.

He enjoyed horses, fishing, hunting, sailing, woodworking, painting, gardening, traveling and dancing.

Owen was a member of the Southern Idaho Sailing Association and the Idaho High Desert Travelers RV Club.

He helped to start Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue and was also a Fish and Game Reservist.

Owen married Arlene Hoagland on March 29, 1954. They had seven children. He later married Judy Powell on Dec. 27, 1975, gaining three stepchildren and having another daughter.

"Owen will be missed greatly by his family and friends, who he has touched with love and laughter over the years," his family said.

Owen is survived by: his wife, Judy A. Riley of Mountain Home; sons Ricky Riley of Caldwell, Bill Riley and his wife, Kristan, of Mountain Home; daughters Arenett Grant and her husband, Steve, of Emmett, Louinda Huston and her husband, Jerry, and Raleen Bahnmiller, all of Garden Valley, Paula Swanson and her husband, Larry, of Horseshoe Bend, Terrie Maxwell and her husband, Max, of Hines, Ore., Cindy Riley and her husband, David, of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepsons Eddie Powell and his wife, Lori, of Caldwell and Clyde Powell, Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Kuna; stepdaughter Debbie Guertin of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sisters, Betty McNary of Nampa, Bessie Jennings of Delta, Colo., and Beverly Owens of Lazier, Colorado; half brother Roy Riley of Illinois; half sisters Wilma Mitchener of California and Alice Kochver of Salt Lake City; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters.
