Shirley Beck, 53

Shirley Ann (Woods) Beck, 53, of Glenns Ferry, died May 28, 2003, in a Salt Lake City hospital following a long illness.

Memorial services were held June 2 at the Three Island Crossing Community Church in Glenns Ferry, followed by private inurnment. The Rev. Chuck Hitchcock officiated.

She was born Oct. 21, 1949, to Walter and Mildred Woods in Burley, Idaho.

She grew up in the King Hill and Glenns Ferry area and graduated from Glenns Ferry High School in 1968.

Although illness limited her ability to work, she worked at one time as an EMT in Glenns Ferry and also drove potato trucks.

She married Calvin Joseph Mitchell in 1968. They divorced in 1971. She married Bill Sherry and they were later divorced. She married Ron Beck in 1982 and they later divorced.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing and crafts, but the focus of her life was her children.

She is survived by: her two children, Amy (Mrs. Tim) Hughes of Langley, Va., and Joseph Mitchell and his wife, Lori, of Couer d' Alene; one grandson and three granddaughters; brothers Earl Woods of Burley, Leon "Woody" Woods and his wife, Joy, of Hammett, Ralph Woods and his wife, Inge, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Don Woods and his wife, Elaine, of Wilder; and two sisters, Lois (Mrs. Bill) Norris of Louisiana and Jean (Mrs. Dwight) Neal of Nampa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mildred Woods of Hammett, and a sister, Violet.
