LoRinda Gertrude Emery Fox, 91, of Mountain Home, died Thursday, June 11, 2003, at a family member's home in Nampa.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Wednesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. in the Wendell Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

LoRinda was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Carey, the daughter of Arthur Norcross and Rosella (Campbell) Howard. She grew up in Carey until her parents moved to Wendell to have more fresh fruit and vegetables for the family during the Depression.

At 11 years of age she began a lifetime of hard work. She was a housekeeper in Twin Falls for Mrs. Foss until she was old enough to leave. LoRinda grew up in two great Depressions, two World Wars and various other earthly conflicts. She knew how to get along on a shoestring budget, her family noted.

LoRinda married Asa Clifford Emery in 1923. They had six children. Together they owned their own construction company. Only 90-pounds, she could drive a large dump truck. They later divorced and in 1941 LoRinda married Parley Fox and had two children. They owned a ranch and packing business on the Salmon River.

LoRinda and Parley followed construction for many years. Working as a flagwoman she helped to build most of the roads that are in use today in Yellowstone National Park. She was considered a great cook and worked for sheep shearing crews and ran a restaurant in Cobalt, Idaho, for several years.

When the Olympic games were in Squaw Valley, Calif., she and Parley worked there. In 1966, LoRinda and Parley moved to the Grand View/Bruneau and Flying H area.

Her hobbies were taking pictures of her family and genealogy. She loved making porcelain dolls and collecting them. She was a gifted artist. She was a member of the Idaho Cattlemen's Association, AARP, Golden Age Club, Idaho Farm Bureau, member of the LDS Church and served as a visiting teacher. She received a Temple Endowment in 1998.

LoRinda is survived by: her daughters, Leora Maag (Jerry) of Bagdad, Ariz., Arline Peterson (DeLynn) of Pocatello, Geraldine Loening (Garry Harnden) of Mountain Home; a son, Parley Earl Fox, Jr. (Pam) of Adams, Ore.; a sister, Delsa Douglas of Orange, Calif.; two grandsons that she raised, Richard Myers and Randy Myers both of Boise, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Asa Emery and Parley Fox, two sons and two daughters, three brothers, and three sisters.
