David E. Schmidt

Heaven has gained a beautiful angel, David E. Schmidt passed away on the evening of October 16, 2022, from complications of dementia and heart failure. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Hall Post #26 in Mountain Home on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 11:00 A.M.

David was born on February 4, 1948, to Vera Wilkins and Elmer Schmidt in Illinois. He attended school in Round Lake, Illinois and upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force on December 16, 1967. He was a well decorated Veteran who toured Vietnam and earned 14 oak leaf clusters as well as many more medals. After, retirement he worked for the city of Mountain Home for several years.

David had two children, Shanna and Paul, from a previous marriage. In 1993, he met the love of his life, Beverly and he gained four more children. They remained together until his passing.

Dave was a gentle giant who loved to watch Westerns, drink a beer with his buddies, do yard-work, cook, and be with his family.

Dave is survived by his wife Beverly; his children Paul Schmidt, Shanna Southwick (Dwight); stepchildren Debbra Guthrie (Rob), Sherri Poldervart (Steve), Lisa Woodruff (Robert), John Fredericksen; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded by both parents, son David Elmer, brother Robert Wilkins, and great-granddaughter Heather.

Dave will be greatly missed by all the lives he has touched.
