Kay Louise Neal

Kay Louise Neal left this earthly home on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, (her favorite holiday). Per Kay’s request no services have been planned. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Kay Russell Neal was born in Spokane, Washington January 8, 1937. She loved God, family, friends, nature and her special pets, horses, dogs and cats.

She particularly enjoyed Mayfield, Idaho where she was raised with her parents, Emily and C.J. Russell until 1950. She was a 1954 graduate of Mountain Home High School and a graduate of U. of I. in 1960.

She enjoyed teaching English, Speech, Drama and Foreign Languages to high school students. She was Teacher of the Year at Glenns Ferry High School in 1989-1990 and delivered the Commencement address to the Class of 1991. After retiring she spent a lot of time helping move cattle on Bennett Mountain.

She married Dave Owen in 1958, they later divorced. They had two children Skip (Darlene) and Rita (Chuck) Owen Hall. Her grandchildren Hadley (Cassandra) Folkman, Jacob Owen, Taylor (Hailey) Owen and Lyndie (Dusty) Easterday were the pride of her life and she enjoyed attending their many sporting events. More happiness was added with the addition of her great grandchildren, Brylee Kay and Roan Folkman, Tietjen and Dallie Owen and Catlen and Callahan Easterday.

Kay married Richard Neal in 1990 and lived together in Glenns Ferry until 2018. Kay also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, Spain, Mexico and Belize and enjoyed a memorable horseback pack trip to the Stanley Basin area. Unforgettable experiences!!!

She was happy to serve on the Glenns Ferry Health Center Board of Directors for many years.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her sister Phyllis Russell Beuchamp (Pat), special nieces Brook (Jay) Sklenar and children and Jamie Sims and lifelong friends, Barbara Ireland and Juanita Steen.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

The greatest pleasure in her life was horseback riding and hiking on Bennett Mountain. Simple pleasures of nature pleased her most.
