On January 4, 2022, at approximately 7:30 PM Elmore County emergency personal responded to a semi-truck rolled over, on the shoulder, on I-84 east of the exit 95 eastbound on ramp. Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Elmore Ambulance Service, Elmore County Rescue, and Idaho State Police responded to the scene. Once on scene they learned it was a cattle truck fully loaded. Idaho State Police took the lead on investigating the crash. With the assistance of Elmore County Rescue, the tow company, local heavy equipment operators and their equipment, and local ranchers to include their equipment, they were able to corral the cattle as they were unloaded off the interstate with movable panels that were provided. This process took almost 8 and ½ hours to complete.

Working with the insurance company on January 6, 2022, the collection of the cattle from the pen was undertaken. This effort took a coordinated effort from the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police, Elmore County Search and Rescue, a local rancher, and a rancher whom the insurance company contacted to take custody of the cattle and their crew.

The professional handling of both incidents could not have been possible without the help and commitment from everyone. A huge thank you goes out to everyone that made this work.
