City Council Meeting - September 13, 2021

Tuesday, September 21, 2021

On Monday, Sept 13, the Mountain Home City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting.

Ramona Dopps with the Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo started the meeting off by thanking the community, sponsors, & the staff of the Parks and Rec Department for their contributions to the event every year.

The Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo Association presented a donation check to the Parks and Recreation Office for their outdoor fitness court (coming soon) and youth sports programming. They also presented Darcy Braithwaite, Recreation Superintendent, with a buckle to thank her and her team for all of their hard work and dedication to our local events. Dopps mentioned during the meeting that Sept 14, 2021, would have been Daniel Dopps’ 36th birthday, and she was very appreciative of the support that the community has given the family and rodeo over the years.

Brock Cherry, Community Development Director for the City stated that he had received a call from the Idaho Walk Bike Alliance complimenting the Downtown Revitalization efforts. The alliance also looked over the city’s new downtown parking ordinance and master pathways plan. Mountain Home was then invited to participate in a panel about implementing best practices.

Mayor Rich Sykes mentioned how astonished he was by all the support when Mountain Home came together on Sept 11th. All of the department heads came down to the 9/11 ceremony. “You guys were on point, the Fire Department was on point. They were all classy and were dressed phenomenally. It shows the character of the department.”
