Carlos Baxter Stinnett

Carlos Baxter Stinnett was called home by our Lord and Savior on February 25, 2021. He passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Rost Funeral Home starting at 9:00 A.M., after the service, Carlos will be laid to rest at the ID. State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Carlos was born April 30th 1939 in Evansville, Tennessee to Max and Eloise (Mitchell) Stinnett. He enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves in 1956. He graduated class of 1958 from Rhea County High School in Dayton, Tennessee. After high school, he was called to active duty in 1958, but returned home to Tennessee to marry Ethel (Bo) Louise Dotson. Carlos and Bo were blessed with three children: Donda, Kimberly and Victor.

He served as clerk in the Navy aboard the USS Denebola. In 1961, Carlos received an Honorable discharge from the navy and enlisted in the Air Force where he served until retiring in Mountain Home, Idaho in 1981. He was stationed in a variety a places including Ramstein Germany, Thailand, and Washington, D.C. Carlos was proud to have served his country.

In 1989, Carlos and Bo opened Carlos’ Mexican Style Family Dining which was family owned and operated for 24 years.

Carlos was actively involved in the community through many organizations, including the American Legion, Citizens on Patrol, the Forty and Eight, and also served as vice president and treasurer of the Rifle and Pistol Club.

Family and friends will remember good times spent target shooting, camping and hunting with Carlos. He valued his friendships and the connections he built within the community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Bo, and daughter Donda Varela.

He is survived and missed by his daughter Kimberly, son Victor, ten grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
