Local group files petition for recall of Mountain Home Mayor

Wednesday, June 17, 2020

A vocal group of Mountain Home citizens, and county supporters, have been advocating for the removal from office of Mayor Rich Sykes through social media.

The group has now taken a step forward in the formal recall process when they submitted a formal petition to City Clerk Nina Patterson. After confirming all the signatures belong to city residents, the petition will be passed along to Elmore County Election Clerk to verify that they all belong to registered voters.

Once verified the petitioners will receive a letter from the City Clerk outlining the time frames and the exact number of signatures needed to get the recall effort onto the ballot.

In the petition Mayor Sykes is accused of misappropriating funds and usurping the United States Constitution and the First Amendment for the reasoning behind the recall effort.
