Bealls closing for good

In the Nov. 13, issue of the Mountain Home News we reported that Bealls Department Store would be closing and re-opening as its sister store, Gordmans. In that article we used information we had received from the Stage Store Inc.’s Public Relations Department, who had sent us an email “Confirming” that the location would be transitioning into a Gordmans. For that same article we spoke to Alan Bermensolo, of the Urban Renewal Agency, who said that the group had not received confirmation one way or the other on what was to happen with the store. Since that article has come out people who work at the store began saying they had been told that the store is closing, so we once again reached out to Bermensolo who confirmed that the agency had received a letter from Stage Stores saying that the corporation was terminating their lease on the building. We did our best at due diligence when we reported on the situation at the time and believed we had done everything we needed to in order to provide our readers with answers to what was going to happen with the store. We are unsure about what happened to change the corporation’s mind on keeping their location in Mountain Home open.
