Asuncion G. Tapiador, age 99, of Mountain Home, passed away at home on October 1, 2019. A Rosary and viewing will be held at Rost Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Mountain Home on Friday, October 11, 2019. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Asuncion was born to Hilario and Seria (Arcardo) Tapiador on May 14, 1920 in the Philippines. She married Lazaro Tapiador in Manila and together they had 7 children.

When Asuncion migrated to the US in 1985, she was already a widow and had to divide her time between her three daughters whose spouses were all in the US Air Force. She joined them wherever they were stationed from California, Indiana, North Carolina, Georgia and elsewhere until she ended up in Mountain Home where 2 of her son in laws retired.

Annie or Nanay, which means mom, was given to Asuncion since her name was so foreign to many. She was a very independent, strong headed and can we say “protective” Mother. Annie attended ESL class on Mountain Home AFB and assisted Family Services for other ethnicity to learn to speak English. She acquired many friends and kept in touch with them even after they moved away.

Her hobbies included recording classic movies, she was fond of reading, loved to cook Philippine native dishes and entertaining her friends at her home. At the age of 70, Annie learned how to crochet and she didn’t stop till she got arthritis in her shoulder.

Annie lived life to the fullest. She will be missed but she is now in the hands of the Lord.

Annie is survived by her son Jesse Tapiador, daughters Milagros (Joe) Gardner, Edna Dorothy, Remedios (Vernon) Stroud, LG Tapiador all of Mountain Home, Fe (vic) Sarorio of California, and Irene Tabong of Philippines; along with 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Annie is preceded in death by both her parents, husband Lazaro, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
