City Council discuss increase in alcohol licenses and smoking in parks

The City Council met on Tuesday May 28th for their bimonthly meeting.

The Council deliberated the Beer and Wine licensing fee increase. Councilman Mark Bryant argued that “raising a fee just for the sake of raising it is wrong, if we want to raise revenue it should be done through growth not by taxing business owners with more fees.” The councilman also commented “we should never be voting on raising anything without going to the businesses and surveying them”. Bryant went on to state “this is not an enterprise fund, it doesn’t take care of anything, if we want to generate revenue it should be done through tax growth not by raising fees."
