Kite Day

Every year rain, snow or shine for the past 20 plus years Parks and Rec has hosted Kite day on the 3rd Saturday in May at Legacy Park to coincide with National Kite Day. The first 100 people received a free kite and there was judging of seven different categories to win a prize bag. Former Mayor Joe McNeal donated $250 to purchase kites this year. Everyone was encouraged to come out for the event and could use a kite from Parks and Rec. The categories and winners included Biggest Kite – Kyler Lavallee, Smallest Kite - Eva Fowler, Longest Tail – Elliot Fowler, Most Colorful – Zerlena Mendez, Highest Flying – Alliam Anselme, Youngest Person Flying a Kite – Cara Neer and Most Unique Kite – Olivia and James Dickensen.
