Ralph Gerard McGrath

Ralph Gerard McGrath, 79, of Mountain Home, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in Meridian following a short illness, surrounded by the love of family and friends. A memorial services was held at Rost Funeral Home on November 17, 2018.

Ralph, the eldest of two sons, was born January 23, 1939 in Mountain Home to Gerard and Mary (Campbell) McGrath. He graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1957 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He married Patti Jo Kencke on July 27, 1955 and they enjoyed 63 years together.

Ralph worked for Sawtooth Lumber for over twenty years and was a licensed electrician. He enjoyed hunting, camping, cutting firewood, fishing and spending time at their cabin on the South Fork of the Boise River in Pine, Idaho. Ralph never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.

Ralph is survived by his wife Patti of Mountain Home, two sons; Kevin (Tami) McGrath of Puyallup, Washington and Kim (Linda) McGrath of Nampa, four grandchildren; Megan (Christopher) Smith, Jacob McGrath, Conor (Courtney) McGrath and Stevee (Semaj) Allen, three great grandchildren; Sawyer McGrath, Finn McGrath and Imani Allen, one sister, Donna (Terry) Shedd, a special niece and nephew Gail McGrath Dealy and Kenny McGrath to whom he was a father figure along with numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and dearly loved friends.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenny.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at St. Lukes Meridian ICU for the care given to Ralph during his illness. A special thank you to Imelda McGrath for her care and concern over the last several years.
