Michael “Mike” Gonzales Jr.

Michael “Mike” Gonzales Jr., passed away on October 11, 2018 in his home surrounded by family. A Memorial Service was held on October 17, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - Mountain Home Idaho Stake Center. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mtn Home.

Mike was born on March 29, 1956 in Post, Texas to Mike and Helen Gonzales Sr., Mike moved to Nampa, in 1968 where he attended Nampa High school and graduated in 1974. After graduation Mike served 4 years in the Army National Guard gaining multiple skills in the medic and mechanic fields.

After his time spent in the Guard Mike attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado receiving a bachelor’s degree in sociology with an emphasis in gerontology and biology.

Once his bachelor’s degree was completed Mike moved back to Idaho where he met and married his wife, Helen. Together they raised Mike’s son Miguel from a previous marriage along with three children of their own: Alina, Sabina, and Andreaz.

Mike worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor for many years in Washington, Colorado, and Idaho. He loved gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, son and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, and his children: Alina (Daryl) Stokes; Sabina (Luke) Courtright; Andreaz (Vanessa) Gonzales, 17 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
