Now that the City of Mountain Home is a member of Bee City USA, the topic of “bees” has been buzzing around the local community. Bee City USA is a non-profit organization that recently joined with the Xerces Society, both organizations hope to help conserve insect pollinator communities and species alike throughout the United States. University of Idaho Extension here in Elmore County recently celebrated Mountain Home’s first Pollinator Appreciation Day at the local Farmer’s Market here in Railroad Park. Bees are important for the pollination of numerous native wild plants, agricultural community, backyard gardens and the production of honey.
