Mountain Home Emergency Responders to Get New Training Facility

Thursday, August 16, 2018
Construction has begun on a new training facility for first responders beside Fire House 1 in Mountain Home.

The City of Mountain Home is currently working on a new 'training facility' next to the fire house which will be used by the Police Department and Fire Department. Mayor Rich Sykes said the building is being constructed with development fees.

The Police Department had initially wanted to build this new facility next to it's current building on East 8th North, but were unable to due to the conditions of the ground. Mayor Sykes said the ground on that site is made up of "salt rock." Ground conditions would have made the project more expensive due to the equipment needed to break through the rock. Uhhh...I don't think it's "salt rock", more like basalt.
