Event Lead Ben Kiel poses for a picture with some of the youth participants at the 2018 Relay for Life event. This years theme was "a cancer free paradise" on Aug. 4 at East Side Park.

The annual Relay For Life was held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at East Side Park and Event Lead Ben Kiel seemed to be running as much as the participants. Kiel said that he has been hosting meetings since last August in preparation for this years event. He has participated in the Relay For Life for the last nine years. He started as just a participant but through the years has taken on more and more responsibility when it comes to the event, being a team captain then moving to logistics for the event and finally, Event Lead.

"Becoming an Event Lead was the next logical step for me," said Kiel. "I won't sugar coat it though, a lot of hard work goes into preparing for culminating events like Relay For Life."
