United States Air Force (Ret.) Colonel Earl W. Pitts passed away on April 23, 2018 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho surrounded by his family.

Born on July 3, 1925 in Mesa, Colorado to Emory Frank Pitts and Rosanna Mabel Thompson, Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brother Forrest, sister JosephineFarley, and the love of his life Sandy Jean Kelton Pitts. Earl leaves behind daughters Candy(Tim)Carstensen, Cindy(Terry)Lindquist, Carrie(Don)Grant and their families and his sister Dorothy Fitzgerald.

Dad's love of flying began at age 4 and continued throughout his life. After his 34 year career in the USAF he taught glider pilots, flew search and rescue for the Civil Air Patrol and bought himself his very own plane which he flew until he was 89 years young.

Dad lived a full and honorable life. He loved the outdoors and hunted and fished at every opportunity. He became passionate about golf in his retirement years and played with family and friends until he was 91. Dad was a proud Daedalian and he belonged to several civic organizations including the Elks and the VFW. He was a movie extra and played in the Mountain Home community theatre. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved the Sunday funnies and was a punster extraordinaire. We treasure our memories of him and feel lucky to have had him in our lives.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held on August 10 at 10:45am at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boise. A celebration of his life will follow at 1 p.m. in Mountain Home at the First Congregational Church located at 515 E. 15th North. All are welcome.
