Asencion (Chon) M. Castro, Sr.

Asencion (Chon) M. Castro, Sr. returned to his Heavenly Father Wednesday, July 11, at home with family by his side.

Chon was born August 15, 1944, to his parents Jesus and Maria Castro in Crystal City, Texas. He married Paula Palomin September 11, 1962 in Ontario, Oregon. They moved back and forth from Texas and Idaho and finally settled in Mountain Home in 1980 for work. He worked for Bowman's Plumbing Inc. for 20 + years.

Friends and family remember Chon for his loving personality. He was a hard worker, he had a big heart for animals and loved his pets. He especially loved hanging out with family and friends playing poker and gambling. He had a passion for owning and collecting cars as well as gardening. Chon left his family leaving a mark of loving others and being compassionate, caring, funny, playful and stubborn. He also loved to watch old western movies.

Chon was survived by his wife Paula Palomin Castro, son Asencion Castro, Jr., daughter Susana Castro Pacheco (Daniel), and daughter Sandra Castro Garcia (Humberto). He was also survived by his sister Sylvia Castro Perez from Crystal City, TX, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Chon was preceded in death by his two sons David and Abel Castro, his sisters Juana Castro Rodriguez, Tenpora Castro Fuentes, Yolanda Castro Mendoza, his brother Eusebio Castro and parents Jesus Castro, Jr. and Maria Mena Castro.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel with a viewing at 8:30AM and funeral services at 10:00 AM.
