Thank You Mountain Home

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

As many of you know, June and I experienced a devastating fire to our home on February 2nd, 2018. The Fire Department arrived promptly and did a tremendous job fighting and saving as much as possible. We lost most everything, but they were able to save a lot of treasured mementos and pictures.

The dedication, professionalism, and care shown by the Fire Department, Police Department and Social Service personnel from the City of Mountain Home was truly astounding. Within 30 minutes we had numerous close friends standing on the street, about 1:30 in the morning, consoling and offering their homes, food, and mental support. Within the next few days, countless people, including total strangers, came by with food, toilet articles, and words of solace and comfort.

Words will never be able to convey the love, thanks, and special bond that June and I have for this town and community. It truly is a special place. Not for a moment did we consider moving or rebuilding elsewhere. I would like to name some of the people who helped us get through this ordeal. But, there or so many of you we most assuredly would neglect someone. You all know who you are.

Last, we learned a valuable lesson that night. We will never take our first responders for granted. So, the next time you see a Fireman, Policeman or Woman, or a City Social Worker trying to raise funds for their Departments, think twice about not contributing. At the very least thank them for their services.

Once again, thank you Friends, First Responders, and the Community of Mountain Home.

Signed

Nick and June Lonigro
