Inez Virginia Sexauer, beloved wife of James A. Sexauer, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 13, 2018, in Mountain Home. She was 96 year old. Inez was born in Mountain Home on March 16, 1922 and resided in the small town she loved dearly until her death.

Extremely proud of her Basque heritage, Inez was the youngest child born to Francisco Monasterio and Emelia Lequericabeazcua Monasterio, both immigrants from Northern Spain, Province of Biscay. She graduated from Mountain Home High School and was later employed by the Mountain Home Air Force Base, Morrison Knudson, and the County Treasurer’s Office, however her greatest roles were that of wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Inez was a gifted cook and baker who spoiled her grandchildren with a freezer that was always full of her homemade treats. She loved playing with them and teaching them the Basque games and songs of her own childhood.

Her deep devotion to them continued well into their adult lives. Her five grandchildren will deeply miss her.

Inez married James “Jim” Alva Sexauer of Torrance, Connecticut, on July 7, 1956 in Mountain Home. They celebrated 42 years of marriage until her husband’s death in 1998. They had two children, a son and a daughter.

Inez was a devout member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. She enjoyed many years working with the ladies of Mother Cabrini offering her culinary talent in preparing meals for Church functions.

Inez had a passion for gardening and spent hours working in her many beautiful rose gardens.

She is survived by her son Jim R. Sexauer (Kathy) of Mtn. Home, and daughter, Suzanne Sexauer Carlile of Sammamish, Washington. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Ashley Carlile, Zachary Carlile, Jared Sexauer, Brittany Carlile and Brent Sexauer.

Inez is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her three older brothers Ricardo “Pete” Monasterio, Leon “Dino” Monasterio, John Monasterio and her sister Andresa “Andy” Monasterio Perez.

A rosary will be held at 6 p.m., on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Our Lady of Good Counsel, in Mountain Home.
