WECRD injunction hearing

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

The ongoing fight between the Friends of Recreation and the Western Elmore County Recreation District took to the courtroom on Sept. 22.

The plaintiff’s council, Joseph Borton, representing members of the Friends of Recreation including Betty Ashcraft, petitioned Judge Johnathon Medema to institute a permanent injunction on the WECRD on all non-essential spending.

The defense, Cherese McLain who enlisted former Councilman Geoff Schroeder as second chair, pushed to have this be a trial on the merits, effectively fast-tracking court proceedings.

Ironic that Ms. Ashcraft, a former employee of WECRD was silent when she was receiving a pay check under the former board. That was the same board that over paid for land, spent money on dinners/pictures for themselves, donated money to MHSD. Heck even the AG said that they spent illegally but Ms. Ashcraft was silent through it all. It was only when she was no longer employed that she raised her voice. Sounds like sour grapes and a personal vendetta to me.

Once again, Betty and her crew need to get their facts straight. It is NOT the "Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo grounds", but it is Optimist Park and is still owned, last time I checked facts, by the City of Mountain Home. Thankfully council for WERCD was able to get that information into court records. Their "false facts" are the only thing they can hang their hats on. Betty, and Mr. Borton need to get it right.
