Girls State participants

Monday, July 17, 2017

Four students from Mountain Home High School and another from Glenns Ferry High School received a first-hand look at the government process following their participation in this year's Girls State event, sponsored each year by American Legion Auxiliary Elmore Unit 26. Held from June 11 to 16 at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, the citizenship event gave these students the opportunity to work together as self-governing citizens while they are introduced to their duties, rights privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship, so they can understand and participate in the functions of government, auxiliary officials said. This year's participants were Lizette Garcia, Sage Wootan, Maia Ellis, Alexis Georgianna and Alexandra Fesperman. Ellis was elected as a senator during this year's event.
