City prepares for Flag Day events

Saturday, June 10, 2017

Veterans and others in the Mountain Home community will celebrate Flag Day during a pair of events next week.

The observances begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday as the Mountain Home Elks Lodge presents its annual "parade of flags."

During the evening, lodge members will discuss the history of the 13 flags that have represented the United States, including those that flew prior to adoption of the Stars and Stripes on June 14, 1777. They will also highlight the changes made to the flag through the admission of Hawaii as the 50th state on July 4, 1959.
